Carrying

In Việt Nam, carrying takes many forms. Before the motorbike came the xích lô, the bicycle, the cart, the shoulder pole, and the basket—infrastructures of movement that remain part of everyday life. From a single woven strap to a custom-welded rack carrying furniture twice the height of the scooter supporting it, each tool is shaped by the encounter between load, road, and body. Carrying becomes a practice of balance: a way of moving things, but also of negotiating weight, distance, and rhythm.
